Chris Knott no longer insuring?

Hi all,

I have had an update from Chris Knott that their current insurance provider has pulled out. They are offering me other alternatives. Has anyone else had the call?
 
Try Howdens. Found they were the cheapest for my Zed and very impressed with the more personal Service.
 
I got a competitive quote from Howden in Thatcham last June as they specialise in modified cars, but stayed with CK because they matched it!

A word of caution, from my recent experience with Howdens.

Having been with them (formerly/A-Plan) for many years with all my vehicles, both commercial and private, in recent weeks they have opted for a policy of not discounting "Administration Fees" on renewal. £75 flat fee for commercial and £55 for private even if there is absolutely no change whatsoever in your renewal requirements. Non negotiable according to the manager I spoke with. They might not be as competitive as they once were and you may end up actually paying more for the "more personal Service."
 
I know CK are a 'sponsor' on here, but I have never had any joy with them for premium quotes.
My insurance is always dirt cheap (don't know why TBH), but CK have never been remotely competitive for me. Regularly 50% higher than any mainstream insurer for the same product. I presume their insurers are not interested in the market sector that I fall into?

I've heard that a few times, and for some demographics they aren't necessarily a good fit. For a while they wouldn't touch certain postcodes in Manchester for example. Where I have heard positives have been when people need to claim. They take really good care of people during the claim process, which is why I have always stayed with them providing they are in the lower end of the scale, even if not exactly pound-note cheapest.

I get a quarterly report of number of new resisters and renewals, and can see that there is still good uptake. At the same time, I can totally understand going elsewhere if you fall into one of the demographics that they don't gel with. Unfortunately it's a little bit more complicated than "you have a Z4 and are in a club, we'll insure you cheap".

Cheers for the heads up. Renewal not due for 6 months so will see then. Like previous posts re CK, tried for quotes twice now and nowhere near others so I may not be their preferred demographic
 
I stayed with Aviva this year. Premium actually came down, surprisingly. Below £200. Again. I appreciate age/postcode/history all come to play. Just saying, sometimes the big boys & girls are still viable options. But always welcome smaller, personable service too (so long as it’s competitive)
 
I used CK this time as they were much cheaper than Hastings for my z4 and a lot nicer to deal with. Then my wife used them for her ford focus and found the same. Unfortunately not so good for my transit van. Found howdens good for house and business insurance.

Hi,

Insurers do pull out of the market from time to time but we have a large panel of insurers to choose from. In your case, it is more likely that your current insurer isn't offering a renewal to you personally (there are various reason why that might occur), not that they have pulled out of the market.

As you say in your original post, we've offered alternatives and we'd love to help you again this year if we can.

So it's business as usual from our side but we will have to move some policies if they are with an insurer who won't offer a renewal for a particular reason.
