Choosing A Z4 - Colour Advice

Hi,

My first post. I'm selecting my new company car which will be a Z4 2.0i SE, just got to choose the colour combo. I've rifled through lots of pics and visited dealerships etc. and I think I'm down to 2 options - sapphire black with black oregan, or midnight blue with champagne nappa. Black is kind of my 'safe' option - I currently drive a black 320d and previously a black Golf GTI. But when using the car configurator on the BMW website I hit upon the midnight blue with champagne and thought it looked stunning and really 'individual' (good name!). I do realise though that the colour representation is not great on the configurator, and I've found it really hard to find any pictures of this colour combo. The only ones I have are from a car show, I'd like to see owner's pictures with it in the 'flesh' on a road - not on a stage with lighting. So basically this is a plea for any pics members out there might have.

Might sound stupid but choosing the colour combo feels like the hardest decision I've had to make! Yes I know it's a nice problem to have, but our leases are all for 3 years and don't want to make a mistake. I think choosing colours on convertibles is harder because the interior becomes so much more of the look of the car.

Any help appreciated. Impressed with the site, once I get the motor I'll post some pics.

Welcome to the forum. There are loads of pictures of various colours on here to help you choose...

I have black on black; its safe and always looks good. However can you get the Sepang Bronze leather on it? The first Z4M I test drove was Black Sapphire with Sepang Bronze leather and it looked amazing; unfortunately it was overpriced by miles. The Sepang is paler and looks a little less in your face than Champagne, which IMO is a little bright for my taste. 'JackB1' has the Sepang - on a black car (which is a pain to keep clean!) it looked stunning

Thanks for the replies. I had never heard of the Sepang bronze so looked it up and I agree it is more subtle than champagne and very nice. Unfortunately it's an 'M' only colour and so waaay out of my price range. In any case I can feel myself going down the black/black route - I passed a black Z4 last night and it oozed 'get me'! Better get myself a new sponge and plenty of shampoo then

I have the Deep Green Metallic, and love it. A lot of people think it is black until they are up close. The other Z4 in the picture with mine is JackB1's black 2005, he has the light tan interior with wood trim. In my opinion, pictures are fine but I would find a forum member who lives close or other method to see the color you like in person. They (the colors) change dramatically in certain light, and it is a big decision on color combinations. Good luck! :driving:

jonathan2708, Welcome! Like JBZ4 I have the Deep Green Metallic, except with the Beige Interior with wood trim. I have also owned many black cars in the past... 1989 Ford Probe, 1997 BMW 318ti, 2003 Ford F150 (current), and a 2003 BMW Z4 2.5i which was black on black with black leather. I loved the 2.5i, but I REALLY love my Green/Beige. It's sooooo.... me! I say go for the Blue/Champaigne!!! It really stands out a little more and you'll be that much happier :D

Mines Jet black and while i wouldn't recommend a solid black colour the serious car detailers say its the only way togo compared to Metallic.

My advice get Metallic black and Black leather, simple and stunning.

Cheers

I agree with flyboyaj, definitely go with the Midnight Blue. BTW, the girls do not come with a green car as the above picture might suggest.

I have the Coupe in Sapphire black with saddle extended leather interior (M seats). Online, that combo looked much too dark, but "in person" it's actually very nice. I bought it last August (it's a 2007) off the lot after the factory to dealer incentives kicked in.

See, IMO if you get a black car you have no choice but to get the red seats. Not my favorite color, but it does make women weak in the knees...or maybe that's just the car. At any rate the other color combo's are good. My advice is to try to see them all in person and then decide.

I think you meant to type "steering wheel on the left side". Let's keep it proper now :P
