child seat in 04 Z4

Hello!

Can you guys help me out--we're expecting, and my wife is starting to rethink her decision to keep our Z4 once the baby arrives.
We have a Subaru wagon that will be great for the kid, and my plan was to only use the Z4 as an absolute emergency, with a child seat and airbag turned off of course. Now she's challenging me to prove that it will be safe.

I tried googling, but only found that a child seat anchor is offered in newer models, but not mine. Not exactly the kind of info I can use to my advantage. Anyone know of any source that speaks to the safety of using a child seat in the front passenger seat of the Z4, or any convertible or 2-seater for that matter?

Does anyone here do it themselves? Or is the idea roundly criticized, and I should start printing up "For Sale" signs??

I'm in the same postition so to speak, 3 year old twins, a Z4, and a MPV, no reason for kids to go in Z4, nor the Mrs. :D
 
While I have no experance with a child seat in a Z, BMW does make seats..
