Checking oil on a 2003 Z4

Is it possible to check the oil using the dash on a 2003 Zeddy or do I have to do it the old way? Just checking my engine is happy while it's raining.

But can you actually check it electronically in my car, and if so, how? Couldn't find the right button.

But seriously, does anyone add oil between services? Admittedly, my 2.5 2003 Z only does 3K p.a. and doesn't use a drop, although still only 19K miles. Oil is never black, still straw coloured, after 1 year.

I still like the idea of a dipstick though, as a display can never tell you the colour of the oil, and I guess sensors can fail?

I probably wouldn't bother adding any unless I knew I was going to be doing a lot of miles. Seems some people on the forum like to top the oil up halfway between oil services, though, just to be on the safe side.
