18" Runflats for the Coupe.

Tyre Size 225/40W18

I currently have Bridgestone RE050A1 tyres...

I found the cheapest to be Kwik Fit @ £374 all in (for 2 front tyres) when pre-booking online. Anybody know of anywhere cheaper?

email them for a quote - i just bought some winter tyres £100 cheaper than the next best quote

Sorry I hate RFT and they are NOT cheap
 
Leeds/Middlesbrough area...

Whilst RF's have their downfalls (tramlining etc) I'd rather keep the peace of mind that I could get home in case of a puncture etc!

I would not bet on being able to get home on a puncture with RFT's I have heard of many that shred so are un drivable.
 
You wont find much support here for RFT's. A can of goo in the boot and an AA membership is a good compromise for a much better riding car. You wont look back :)

I've done it 2 or 3 times with my previous car (Mini JCW).

I appreciate many people do not like the RFT's, what type of price difference are you looking at for similar quality tyres (say if I was to replace 4 tyres with non RFT's) rather than getting 2 new RFT's. Also, what's the goo stuff all about, is that similar to what the RFT basically does, but doing it yourself?
 
Goo is just another way of saying Tyreweld. Thats what i, and most others here carry around and some manufacturers supply with the car if theres no spare wheel.

An RFT works as the side walls are much thicker and stronger than a normal tyre which is how they will get you home without much air in them. This is good but results in a very crashy ride. :(
The Tyreweld is an expanding foam that you fill the flat tyre with and will plug the air gap and get you home that way.

I carry tyreweld and a mini compressor in the boot. A set of Falkens (the best budget option) will cost you about the same as two RFT's. Someone will be along to confirm this i should imagine :)
 
Cheers Dreamer, that's very informative!

Without sounding like a plank, how do you get the foam inside? Via the valve?
