Cheap mobiles.

Knowing nothing about mobile phones I think I've now got to an age where I ought to keep one in the car just in case. I don't want one that gets the internet, just something that makes phone calls and messages with Pay As You Go that doesn't run out every month. So I buy the relevant sim card and stick it in an unblocked phone, is that it? Presumably the card comes with a number? I live in France but imagine it's the same procedure here but it's easier to read up about it on Amazon UK than try to translate everything on Amazon.fr ... or ask on here! ... :?

If you don't already have a sim card its probably just easier going to your local supermarket and buying a cheapo pay as you go phone. I would imagine its would be more hastle trying to find an unlocked to any network phone and buying a seperate sim. I bought a cheap pay as you go phone for my mum some years ago from Tesco for 30 quid or so which came with a sim locked to Virgin. Just need to register the card and away you go.

Thanks for your suggestion. I found an unlocked cheap Nokia, ordered from Amazon France yesterday, Monday, and it arrived today, Tuesday! Sim card due on Thursday. That was easier than driving to the supermarket but thanks anyway! ... :)
