Hi guys

I am thinking of changing to non runflats, falken 452s. I have an 06 zed and am wondering if changing to non runflats could invalidate the warranty in anyway?

best price I can find at the moment is with tyre traders £369 fitted for a full set. 18in.

Any comments advice appreciated. Just had oil sevice done, hand brake adjusted, and brake fluid replaced £282. It isnt cheap owning a bmw lol.

On my previous Z, I had my dealer replace my run flats to P Zero Nero non-run flats, so no issue there re warranty. The price matched the tyres anyway + my 10% BMW club discount as well.

However, I have heard some that had issues with their dealers.

This is apparently more of an issue in the UK as I have never heard of anyone on this side of the pond having a warranty issue for changing to non-run flats. My dealer has made the switch for me on 2 occassions.

i called BMW custoer service to ask when i was considering the change, asked them about specific clauses in the warrenty they sounded like they could be used as a get out clause but they said there was no issue, asked then to put that in writing, they sent me a fax, all good :)

Tyres are not covered by warrnty anyway, they are a consumable...so they cannot negate any other claim for that. You can put any tyre you want on your car. I had the Falkens on my 330 and they were great, half the price of something like an Eagle F1 or Conti but still very good tyres.

Don't take any rubbish from the fitters though; I got so miffed with one place after taking my sisters Mini Cooper for new tyres. He started tutting, telling me you can't fit non run flats to a Mini as they won't fit the rim. What rubbish. Especially as the car was bloody wearing non run flats already!

+1
It's not much different on this side of the pond. The local Discount Tire store (which I had spent $3500.00 at the previous year) tried to charge me $70.00 to mount and balance two runflats on my stock wheels. Claimed that it was because the wheels were expensive and there was a lot of liability involved. I called Bull sh*t on him and he backed down to $40.00. He was pissed because I didn't buy the tires from him. So, when I took my new style 71's in and had them install the F-1's, magically it was only $52.00 for all four. (I guess he didn't want round two  )

You will be extremely happy with the Falken 452. I just put them on this past weekend. I noticed the improvement right off the bat. I had Goodyear F1's on the previous Z4 and did not want to pay as much this time as this Z is a lease. Everything I researched about the Falkens was pretty positive. Good luck! :driving:

+1 on the PS2's. I love the difference. They are expensive, but wow they perform great! I imagine any high performance non runflat will outperform runflats.
