Changing the leather door insert?

Hi all,

Has anyone ever removed the leather door insert on the door card? I need to swap mine over to a new door card. Had a look and it seems pretty well secured on.

Anyone with any experience of changing the leather in their car know how I can remove it and swap it over?

CJ10Jeeper has done this, IIRC he more or less chiseled it off and then glued back on after he had them dyed.
 
Spot on SR. Did it years ago when I wanted to change the cards to red leather. Had to cold chisel about 2 metres of plastic weld off the inside of each and then once done rebond them on. Took simply ages.

Later replaced with near new oem doorcards purchased off a forumite.

Would never attempt that job again.

Basically i have a small crack in the arm rest on the door so you can see the foam inside. I have found a replacement door card but the leather is a different colour.

So yeah, it wouldn't be a simple job would it!? Just want to swap the leather inserts over not spend my life with a chisel prising them off the old door and then the new one.

My experience of recolouring was not good. The look and texture never truly matched the red ///M seats. I was lucky to find a set of good OEM to swap across.
