Afternoon all,

a couple of months ago i changed my front discs and pads, this was the first time id ever done brakes so took me a little while to do it, but i finished it confident that i could do it again and in half the time. Anyway iv now decided that the rears need doing, is the process exactly the same as the fronts? or are the rears a harder task? do i just need to change disks and pads or will i need to do shoes at the same time?

Cheers

Rears are a little harder as you have to deal with the handbrake shoes inside of the disk tophat.

Main differnece is that you will have to slacken off the handbrake shoes through one of the wheel boltholes. Crap design and fiddly until you get the hang of it. I usually take the wheel off as there is more room to manoever.

You'll only need new disks and pads as the handbrake shoes are unlikely to be worn out. You will however have to bed the shoes onto the inside of the disk by driving with the handbrake on for 100m or so.

Bed the rotors and pads as normal.
