Changing colour of Zhp gear knob ?

Hi

I want a Zhp gear knob for my beige interior.

As the Zhp only comes in black I was thinking of getting it painted by using the leather dye/paint.

I've had good results on the leather seats but am worried if the finish will last on the Zhp.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
