Hi all, I need to change the disks and pads on my 3.0 shortly (fronts and backs). Are there any specific pitfalls I need to think about? or is it a quick easy job?

I did the pads in an hour and a quarter. Pitfall is that the wheels are sometimes a major pain to get off, so I have a piece of wood and a sledgehammer for that part of the job.

it's a disc;)

you might need a strong allan wrench/socket of some sort to get the rotor loose in the front andd have a helper. I do it my self but if you have to ask, get a helper. also bleed your entire brake system as well. you are about overdue for one

Straightforward job but I'd watch for the following:

Make sure the car is on jack stands - never just a jack, even if it's a trolley jack (sorry I say this as years ago the young son of a friend died under a car when it moved forward and toppled the jack)

When you remove the caliper hang it on a wire/hook out of the way - never it's own hose as you risk damage

When you wind back the caliper piston keep an eye on the fluid reservoir - it may well overflow

Depending upon what rotors make sure you get them on the right side - some are handed (mainly aftermarket drilled or slotted)

Grease, dirt and oil have no place on rotors and pads so clean up before you put the pads on and oily rotor

That's it - easy job (aside the beating you may have to give the old rotor to break it loose)

If you have young children, those old Calpol applicators are great for extracting the excess brake fluid (needed to take a load of fluid out when I replaced the X5 pads which were worn halfway through the sensors ...)

Just also remember that there is a brake sensor at the left front and right rear wheels.

Good point I forgot that horrible fiddly little critter...
