use waterless wash and demineralized water. (the stuff you use for ironing clothes (non scented)

I got this from the carwash guy, not sure what he uses for the normal washes, but he manages to keep them pretty clean, only the front grille sometimes has a few watermarks on it
 
Dry as you go panel by panel generally and particularly with the cerium parts. And de-ionised water is a great shout.

I use a seamless small 60x60 micro fibre towel to a great result generally and this helps greatly! :thumbsup:
 
For your car proper detailing is the way forward. I'd check out Autobead or Autobrite Direct products, if you send me a picture of the parts in question then I'll recommend the best thing to use.
 
Thanks for the tips guys. I think that there are some stains on the grill that I can't seem to get off.

How would I go about removing these marks? (noting the points above about avoiding water marks etc.)
 
PM with you're location and I'll see if I can find one of my colleagues in your area. Again, given the quality of your car then just pay for a mid range professional detail and you should get a proper lesson in aftercare and products thrown in. The picture you've shown looks like TFR (Traffic Film Remover) has been used in the past, aggressive stuff. If I had to guess I'd say that you might have used the occasional drive through hand car wash in the past.
 
I’d been having the same problem but a spray bottle with half white vinegar and half demineralised water worked a treat. Wash the car as usual and then use the mixed spray and wipe with a clean, soft cloth. No marks and looks clean and shiny.

Thank you. I've not taken it to a hand car wash but it is possible that this stuff was used by the BMW dealership before collection.

Dealers should stick to selling cars, have a look at this: https://www.marshall.co.uk/bmw/service/cleaning-options-for-your-bmw/ £60 for the Valet and they need the car for a day. I can accept that a basic clean and detail takes a day, my Porsche was in for three days for an intermediate recently. £60 for a day, that's including labour and cleaning products - hmmm, trainee with one bucket and sponge and some cheap polish perhaps.....................
