I noticed a BMW centre cap laying at the end of my driveway and then checked the car to see one was missing from a front wheel.
I went to pop it in and noticed it fitted very loosely. I pulled it out using sticky tape and there wasn't any resistance from it clipping in.
Is there a clip fitted around the cap tabs to retain it? I asssumed there may be which is why it won't hold in, but I can't see one on my drive.
I was lucky the momentum of pulling away from the drive dislodged it but I question why it would fall out doing a few mph. I certainly haven't removed it lately for it to have been loose, neither have the front wheels been removed very recently.
I had a search to see if such a round wire clip exists but can't see it mentioned. Although I have learnt that there are fakes around so maybe these aren't genuine and the fit is poor. I have attached photographs of the cap. It doesn't look like most of the images I have seen and don't have BMW stamped on the rear as I would expect.
Wheels are 108 split rims for reference.
