central locking not working??

hi everone just bought my first 3L Z4 and loving it except a couple small things, car doesn't respond to keyless entry at all thought it might be key battery when I bought it but I'm thinking now it might be related to the broken auto dim interior mirror as mine is supposed to have the red dome at the bottom of the mirror for motion sensor I'm told and mines been broken of somehow?

Does anyone know if this would disable the keyless entry function?
any help is appreciated as i'm still trying to figure the car out.

The dome under the mirror just houses the indicator LED. The occupancy sensor is under the centre console trim (in roof liner for coupes). I can't imagine the missing LED would prevent the locking system from working. It may be the relays in the general module have failed, but if you haven't yet, try reinitialising all of your keys first. That may be all it takes. If you search about you should find instructions. Something about toggling the ignition then pressing buttons whilst holding the key by your head in a certain timed sequence.

The head thing is not a joke! Something about being closer to the antenna in the mirror.

thanks bc wow in the roof lining sounds like a fun place to put a alarm module. would a obd diagnostic tool pick this fault up?
might be cheaper to just buy one off ebay and check that way.

A generic OBD scan tool will not pick this up. Dedicated BMW diagnostic software will pick up some faults but not all.

problem solved after replacing rechargeable battery in key fob.
