Hi all, zeds going in for a service soon and im just wondering what are the benefits of having the CDV removed? I have read numerous threads about this but nothing really definitive.

I know a few of you guys have removed yours how does it feel and are there any deffo benefits in doing it?

If its worthwhile then i will have them remove it at the same time as the service.

Thanks for reading.

I suppose BMW put it there for some reason, my guess would be to protect the dual mass flywheel from shock which could damage it. Just my opinion of course but ........ :)

Thanks for the replies guys i think it can come off when she's in for service.

I have recently had mine removed, eliminates most of the jump from 1-2 and 2-3
Just gotta get used to driving it "normally" now

Hi Tom, in your opinion is it better and worth having it taken off? I don't get the jump in between gear changes, sometimes get a slight judder in first but only when the zed is cold. cheers.

Apparently it depends on your engine size. Mine is a 2.5
I notice a difference and would recommend it. Got my local to remove it for something like 30 or 40 quid as I didn't fancy doing it myself.

I had got used to the clutch and did drive around it to feel smooth although now it has been removed there is a noticeable difference.

Thanks for all the replies guys, mine is deffo coming off then during the service. Cheers all.

Go for it tug, i removed mine and don't have to think about it any more, driving pleasure increased 100% Cheers bud Baz :D :driving:

Quick question, if you remove the valve, does it not need replacing with another one (with a bigger hole in it to let the clutch fluid flow more freely) or is there another way?

You can just removed it and connect what remains (easiest route)

Or

Buy a valve with a larger hole

Or

Modify the one you take out by poking something into it an pushing part of it through.

Many people just remove it and have noticed nothing negative

+1 for just remove it and connect up the existing ends. Mine cost £30 all in at local indie. Best £30 spent ever!!!

Mine removed today with car service, very happy with the results, musch better gear change in 1st and 2nd  :driving:

oooh that hurts
I'll never talk to you again

and I can do whatever I like to my CDV so there !!
