CDV mod/removal

Tha's what I thought... Carl, have you spoken to the guys at Zeckhausen about postage, or just going from what's on their site... the $80 still seems massively over the top to me.

Mine came from Zeckhausen as wel but the cost was $35.00 for the part and $78.77 for shipping.
Total: $113.77. They've obviously bumped up their price considerably but for just over £60 I just went for it anyway.

Stupid question/statement, but I imagine doing this will invalidate the 3yr warranty.

I might keep kangarooing until I am out of my warranty period.

And how would they know without taking it apart?

I broached this subject with David Zeckhausen last week. He apologized but their e-commerce site hasn't got a link to USPS, only UPS, hence the charge. The web guys are working on it, but it's several weeks away. His suggestion was to get a group buy together to split the costs.

I've just sent him another mail telling him his e-commerce site has fallen over...

Not sure why his e-commerce site has anything to do with it.... if he wants to offer some better shipping method then surely he can just do it and sort payment over the phone?

Where have you guys got it from in the UK, or have you ordered from across the pond?

Rich, your Alp doesn't need one, trust me

Cheers Steve, i had a feeling that might be the case! But may have saved me some cash as I would have had it changed at the same time as the diff.

Hi Everyone. Just signed up to the forum would like to say hello. On the above subject, wrote to BMW UK, the questions basically were:

1. Is BMW aware of this problem and its solution? (Kangarooing/CDV Mod-removal)
2. Are there specific BMW dealers that can carry out
the modification/replacement?
3. Will there be associated costs i.e. material and
labour?

And the reply below:

"Thank you for your email to BMW Customer Information.

All of our technical representatives are based within our dealership
network. We suggest that your best course of action will be to contact

I think these guys are still sitting on the fence on this issue...

Minero, I'm not sure that was a good idea. Now you may have stuck our collective head above the parapet and the dealers may be on the lookout for modified CDVs...

BMW won't remove it for you because they are the ones that fitted it in the first place :?

Ok, so i have read about these CDV's for a while now, I haven't been brave enough to do anthing yet! I now know where to get them from, but not sure who can fit it for me. Does anyone know of a garage that could do this not far from Stansted?

Phil

Yeh will do, i doubt i will get chance for a few weeks due to work pressures, but i reckon it has to be done!
