CDV mod - a couple of questions...

Guys, can I have some advice please.

If I remove the CDV in my Z4MC I realise it will make shifting around town much easier. However, I find my car isn't too happy doing fastish 1st to 2nd gear shifts will removal of the CDV help in this area too?

Personally I'd say yes, it is one of the issues the CDV throws up.

I think I'm going to have to get this done, only problem is where and how :(

Are there no decent Indy garages in your area? I took the printed How To Guide from here with me and my local garage did it there and then.

Not really sure, is it safe to just take it to a non-BMW garage and trust that they won't make a horlicks of it?

It's a job any mechanic worth his salt could do. If a garage can't do this then honestly they should not be in business - especially if you have the write up with pics from the forum. It'll take as long to get the car up and down on the ramps as it will for them to do the job.

I'm sure someone will be able to suggest a garage in your area, unfortunately not my side of the country.

To put this thread back on topic, my CDV valve is sitting waiting at Sytner for me to collect on Monday. Will try to get the work done this week.

Why would you put a dummy CDV on your Z4 if it's already out of warranty? That'd defeat the whole purpose. You can simply just take it out.

I must be doing something wrong. I've never had trouble with the CDV in either my 325Ci or my Z4. Of course, if it has less than 10 wheels, I can drive it (and more than 10 if you give me a few hours and a large parking lot)
