Mine was a one for one Zekhausen replacement and caused no shortening at all :)

mine was shortened either, but if the valve itself is removed rather than modified and replaced... it'll end up being shorter ;)
 
Just remove it. Takes about 2 minutes. Then a quick blead and Bob's your uncle.

I did mine within 15 minutes and that included getting it on the ramps.
 
the garage has done it at the same time as the clutch and flywheel and all is good, car is ready to pick up later today :)
 
will get mine taken out tomorrow whilst he is replacing the poly bushes..... will let you know how i find the sharper clutch after :D
 
Removed the CDV today in my 07 Z4M. Very simple, very quick. Should have done it years ago. I agree it improves shifting, especially 1st to 2nd. Clamped the rubber hose to prevent leakage. No need to bleed.
 
Very interested in removing the CDV on my 2005 3.0i Z4 Roadster.

Are there any UK sites that I can purchase the modified CDV from or is it a straight forward job to remove (I'm pretty good on the tools).

I'm jacking it up onto stands in the coming weeks to drop the oil and change filters and plugs etc...... so any pic's/advice for the CDV removal from a 2005 3.0i would be appreciated.

Scrap my request. Apologies for not searching for answers.

A quick search has found me the answers and I'm definitely removing mine while it's up in the air.

Just need a 'one man' bleed tube and I'm away!!
 
For anyone unsure about how to do this great mod, I found a helpful youtube video showing where all the key bits are and what the process is:

They show how to install a modified CDV, but you don't need to do that once you've removed the old one, and can just connect the hydraulic hose directly to the mounting bracket.
