Cdv and ZHP

Just bought and fitted a zhp gear knob and can't believe the difference something so simple makes.
I fitted it just before driving down to get my cdv done so was super happy on the way there.
After having the cdv done, wow, again what a difference. I can't believe Bmw thought it was a good idea to fit the cdv. My clutch feels lighter too as an added bonus.
Highly recommend anyone doing these little mods, makes the car so much nicer to drive :D

+1 on the ZHP. Absolutely love it.

I've thought about the CDV but so far I haven't done anything about it.
 
ZHP is amazing (thanks again Lewis)

Might give the CDV delete a go myself. It made a good difference on my 123d before I bought the zed
 
I also had the CDV done and fitted a ZHP knob on the same day, I agree - made a noticeable difference to shifting :driving:

Couldn't find one on the Forum regarding a 'Delete'. There is this one showing how to 'Modify' the CDV http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1227

Not to take away from this forum but there is a good video on YouTube by user: 'zed4me'. Search the profile and you'll find it.

I did the mod myself and it is super easy, the clutch doesn't even need bleeding afterwards. I don't know what you guys payed for it but once the car is up on stands and the metal undertray piece removed (only 4 or five bolts) you will be out in the daylight again in two minutes tops, feeling like you saved a couple of quid and have the satisfaction of a mod well done :thumbsup:
 
Nice ! read everywhere that zhp is one of the best upgrade for the z4
cdv delete maybe later for me

where can i buy it at the good price ? (6 speed)

CDV delete is easy enough, believe all you need is an 11mm (I think!) flare wrench and two 17mm standard spanners. I literally just removed the valve and tightened the rubber pipe straight into the bracket rather than "modifying", it's a direct fit so no issues.

I was flushing my brake fluid at the same time so also did the clutch fluid, but if you clamp the pipe you'll lose a couple of drops at most.

I'm planning on changing my gearbox oil in a couple of weeks, I'm helping my brother do the rocker gasket on his X3 so figured I may as well wait and do it while I'm dirty!
 
Motorwerks gear knob and handbrake is one of my most satisfying mods. I'm planning on tackling the CDV this weekend.
 
I just did my CDV yesterday too (after about 5 years of ownership :roll: ) I've only been able to drive 2 miles since but it definitely felt better.

I jacked up the passenger side and crawled under. You don't have to take the tray right off, remove three 10mm screws, loosen the fourth and you can swing it out of the way. To take the CDV out is easy and obvious. I didn't clamp the hose and was surprised about much fluid I lost (not ideal).
One minor tip - The clutch has a separate partitioned section in the fluid reservoir. The reservoir can look full but the clutch side is empty (particularly with car jacked up one side). One other tip - my (admittedly very cheap) brake bleeding hose wouldn't stay on the nipple (which is quite small diameter). I had to get my daughter to pump the pedal while I held the hose on.
