CCTV for your Zed?

Im tempted to buy a CCTV kit to keep an eye on my Zed & house,

it spends most of the day parked on the street outside my house, and a couple of cars on the street have been subject to minor thefts - car badged and my stubby! :(

Im toying with the idea of buying a couple of CCTV cameras to keep an eye on the house and the Zed, but im struggling to make the decision - as it wont really prevent anything...

Im wondering if any of you have CCTV at your houses / on your cars and would reccommend investing?

thanks.

Because your cars on the street I'm sure there are laws surrounding having CCTV cameras facing public areas, you'll need to look into those first.

It might prevent if you put a sight out thee saying "smile and look up, your on camera :)", pointing to the camera!

On a more serious note, you could get a PIR ligth set up at the bottom of your garden, get that to come on when someone walks near the car...

I would say yes ...

This is the result of a would-be burglar who climbed my gates and had a go at the front door until he noticed the camera (one of many):

When I installed mine I was told by the Police that I could point the camera at anything on my property including my car on the road outside and I shouldn't include any neighbouring properties if possible. It would seem that the problem is not public areas but other private areas.

my car was keyed last week whilst on the drive. im 99% certain it was my house'mate'!! unbelievable. £300 to fix, its in the bodyshop as we speak. To prevent it happening again, or catch the culprit, im going to install CCTV in the coming weeks.

Hi Guys, a family member is currently branching out into the cctv business using ip addresses and Hard drives that you can view via your iphone.

He is going to put some kits together for ideally this type of scenario. i.e cars, boats, bikes, 2nd homes etc. They will be self install kits, or kits that can be installed.

If your interested i will try and get some prices ??

I was just going to suggest IP address cameras, there are so many benefits and being an electrician they are simple to install and reliable!

I have tested IP cameras and so far, quality of image is quite a lot lower though.

I actually bought a wireless IP camera a while back but it was s**t! The wireless kept losing connectivity so I could never actually use it, and the picture quality was rubbish too - returned it in the end!

i had 3 on the front left right and middle looking onto the street, it was common knowledge with the neighbours that they were there and no one minded, they were hidden micro ones so no one else would ever know they were there unless you told them. Next doors car was stolen and used in some high profile robbery, the police came round and said nothing about them facing on the road infact the praised it and thought it was brilliant. Was funny taking them upstairs into the room where its all connected then browsing through frame by frame... they took a copy and not heard anything back since.

Another time in the rain a guy pulled out of the pub in his range rover obviously been drinking and a car with a family ploughed into the side of him he was shouting and arguing at them, I slipped out there and handed the guy from the family a cd of the accident, said to him this may help your insurance ;-)

I imagine if you don't get on with someone on the street then you may have problems but from law side at least with the police they turn a blind eye... they see it as another tool helping them. When there was trouble one night over the pub they came and asked me if there was any footage.....
