CATS - ANY ADVICE?

Having a White Zed, it is pretty easy to spot any new marks on the car after a clean!

What have I found ?

A bloody cat claw / nail scratch on the bonnet - I am not a cat owner or lover of them but there are loads around our neighbourhood and I am often wiping off paw prints off the car each morning!

I have considered a car cover but they are a lot of hassle (especially when windy!) and apparently cats may go into a frenzy and rip it to shreads anyway causing potentially more damage to the paintwork!

Cats!

A bit of "get off" spray around the area should keep cat away.

I tried it his with my previous car when it was brand new and caught one of the local feral cats asleep on the bonnet as it was nice and warm but it just ignored it and as real lion urine was hard to get I ended up putting an RAC blanket on the bonnet to protect it. This was OK as my car was parked in a covered parking area, basically a garage without a door and wind was not a problem.

:x

Get Supper soaker and squirt them. It's fun for you and harmless to the cats. Just don't let them see you do it! You want to think your house drive has done it so they stay away. Not you doing it so they stay away when your there.

Having been adopted by a local cat myself, yes you read that right, I suppose I now fall firmly into the 'cat lovers' camp and consequently wouldn't dream of suggesting the things I would have suggested previously.
However, being of a generally charitable disposition I can advise that any of the following would be most effective in deterring such feline shennanigans in the future:

* Rig up your car with a static charge to be activated on touch, like a cattle wire, but most importantly; a delay timer so that once all four of moggy's paws are placed upon your precious paintwork the impending shock will have maximum effect, rendering said moggy somewhat 'enlightened'.

* Leave a suitably and delectably delicious selection of catfoods around a pre-measured invisible perimeter line surrounding your vehicle. The feral residivists will thereupon be attracted to, and unable to remove themselves from scoffing said treats whereupon you will have the chance to activate and aim your green laser at them, co-axially aimed in conjunction with a television-based or automated targeting system.

* employ the services of the local 'cat lady' who will already have an in-built, unerring and dedicated aversion to the local feline vermin. promise her a half bottle of Gordons Dry Gin every week if she promises to keep an eye on the resident fleabags on a 24 hour basis.

* always have an oxyacetaline torch on-hand so as to appear at your front door with it lit and raging and pointing in their direction in order to scare them shitless should you spot them romping over your pride and joy

* leave mescaline-impregnated kittytreats around your vehicle. they will become so tripped-out that the thought of having fun by sharpening their claws on your lovely mohair roof would be just too much of a hassle

i'll try to think of more....

Thanks lads / ladies,

The touch up pen on the said area has already been applied (which I hate using like us all but needs must),

I have slightly moved the car into a different position this evening in the hope of less antics!

I will be purchasing some of the mentioned items asap to avoid any potential respray jobs! lol

F**king animals!

I sometimes wish I was not such a petrol head and drove a 1.1 fiesta but where would be the fun in that!

I will keep you up to date on this very interesting thread - lol !

Get a Scat Mat - electrified mat for the top of the bonnet that zaps a cat if it jumps on. Dance, you varmints!

Update:

Purchased one of those sensor type noise thingys...which obviously doesn't work!

This morning more bonnet Cat Paws (not yet checked for scratches!)

Plan B...

Outdoor car cover and place sliced lemons on top. This worked for me when my previous Z lived outside.

I purchased a similar product and it did jack cat!

Car Cover ? Not just for cats but maybe for the winter? Can anyone recommend a decent one for the E85 that withstands wind and the winter elements ?
