Casual Steam Gamer?

I play the odd steam game online and was told about https://www.g2a.com/

I guess if you are a serious gamer you would already know about this website. I have bought a couple of games so far and it is far cheaper than Steam. So, if you want to save a few quid on online games, this is the site for you.

I have just finished Sniper Ghost Warrior 2. I am rubbish but enjoy the graphics as much as the gameplay itself.
 
I don't really understand the Steam system or it's functionality. Seems that it's a different entity to the actual gaming software. If you can help me on this I would be grateful!

I bought (a couple of years ago) a PC copy of 'Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 3' installed it and played about with it, noting that Steam was involved somewhere. Very impressive graphics etc, and very entertaining, but I found that if I didn't use it for a while (a few days or weeks maybe) it stopped working and I had to go through all sorts of software 'tricks' that I found on the net to get it going again. I even wiped it off my PC and reinstalled a couple of times to get it going again. I eventually submitted bug reports to Steam and the code developers (Sledgehammer), neither seemed interested or accepted responsibility so in the end I gave up.

Just wondered if anybody else has had similar problems :)
 
Steam was developed by Valve after they ran into publishing problems with Half-life 2, such that you could buy Valve games on-line and it was the first to do this in 2002, they then started to sell other developers games in 2005. They are usually more expensive to buy than places like www.cdkeys.com, however they have regular sales which are very good.

The best thing about Steam was always the auto updater
 
I was never happy with Steam when I bought a DVD Game and gave it to a friend. Like you I found my self hating it. However, if you buy a game via Steam or other provider for Steam, its pretty good. Its all about the money and the little darlings that ruined it for the masses.
 
I had a couple or three Steam games. Nothing but trouble with steam, was my experience. I found various ways to run them out side steam and no longer use my steam account.
 
Sort of pleased to hear that others have had Steam probs, at least I now know it's not entirely my ineptitude with such things that is causing it.

Would be nice to get Modern Warfare working again so I can blast a few more baddies into oblivion. Think I'll reinstall from the DVD again tomorrow and see what happens :D
