Carver DSP Amp Problems/Options

Hi there
Following heavy rain last night I have found the amp situated in the boot of my 2004 z4 2.5 is sitting in water. The amp looks goosed and is no longer working. Part of the circuit board is corroded.

I am sending it away for repair next week but very much doubt it can be fitted. Bearing in mind the £900 odd replacement cost can anybody suggest specifics of other cheaper options?

The current amp is 65126936952 Carver DSP.

Used ones seem very had to find

If this problem has not already effected your car now might be a good time to double check 1. The seal around centre brake light, 2. That there is no corrosion on the bottom of your amp. I'm wondering if drilling a small drain hole would at least stop water gathering and getting up to the height of the amp.

Anyway any ideas much appreciated

Marcus

Happend to mine. I went down the route of new head unit, an aftermarket amp and new speakers rather than pay BMW prices for a new amp. A lot of work though!

Thanks for that, hopefully it won't come to that, if it does I might pick your brains! I sent itvaway today for repair so fingers crossed. Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I had the same issue on mine when I bought it. Amp corroded and dead. Have a look on German eBay, they had a few on there before and I got one second hand for €300 euros delivered. Not cheap but better than buying a new one from BMW
