Carly not clearing bulb errors

Hi everyone,

I have a 2007 E85 which I have been coding (after being a mug and shelling out £100 for it).

I recently upgraded the headlight bulbs, indicator bulbs and side light bulbs with LED's, and as fully expected the bulb error light has came up on the dash.

Using the Carly app, I have turned all of bulb voltage checks 'off', every single bulb error that it will let me turn off is off. And yet, it does not clear the error on the dash?

Anyone had this issue and know how to resolve it? I am tearing my hair out with this, and tempted to cover the light over on the dash and forget about it lol. :headbang:

Any help would be appreciated, thank you !

(p.s - Carly options for the E85 are VERY limited)

I’ve made a few changes with Carly.
After you have changed/coded it doesn’t take immediate effect.
After locking the car and leaving it for 20 mins all the changes then worked.

Ah! Ok so I haven't tried that yet. I was trying to code it and expecting it to take effect right away. I noticed when I did a few other things that they worked pretty much as soon as I had made the changes.

I will try this tonight and report back. Cheers!

I always wondered what was or wasn't possible with Carly on the E85/86. Is it not great then?

The E85/86 doesn’t have a lot of modules to actually make changes to.

Fantastic bit of kit on later BMWs

Thanks. Good to know. I have a Mini Clubman too, but also have Bimmercode which works well on that. Just doesn't work on the E85.

Yeah, for mine I mainly wanted to code the roof to go down with the key. So I have that now, although annoyingly when you put the roof back up (holding the lock button), the roof closes and it leaves the windows open! So you need to let go of the lock button, wait a second or two, then press and it hold it again for the windows to follow..

I also coded the dipped beams as daytime running lights. Open the boot with one click, rather than holding the button on the key etc, all small improvements.

I let my mate plug it in to his 4 series and loads of options came up!

Is it £100 all in or on subscription?

The offer they currently have on is if you pay the £100 annual subscription you'll get the dongle for free. Once I have had another couple of uses of it, i'll be looking to sell it on!

Have you tried holding the lock button for a while longer after the roof completes its operation? The windows should come back up.

BMW Scanner 1.4 on a laptop codes the bulb warnings out amongst other things as well as being a good code scanner for all modules on the car. Its also a lot cheaper than Carly as long as you have a windows laptop on hand running Windows 7 and above.

Yeah no luck with that, I definitely have to let the button go for a couple of seconds, then press and hold it down again to get the windows back up. No issues going down though! Any one else have this issue?

Yeah, mine does the same thing and I coded mine with NCS Expert.
