Well I managed to track one down..

Bit of a faff trying to form the cut section on the RHS for the quads but overall I am over the moon with the look.

As people have said before pictures really dont do this mod justice. Its very understated but transforms the rear end of the car and finishes off the quad conversion perfectly IMO :D

Here's a few pics of the project..

Ok so the fibreglass work isnt the best / tidyest but its the first time i've used the stuff so be nice to me .. Its all hidden anyway!!

Cutting the bumper was a bit hairy... Lets just say the rule of measure twice cut once went out of the window.. It was measure ten times, turn on the dremel and then measure another two times and then cut!!

Pics of car with the bumper off give a better idea of the quad conversion

And the finished job..

Excuse the poor iPhone pic. For some reason it look on the picture like the LHS pipes are set further back than the RHS but they arent.. Some weird camera wizardry going on there.

Anyway, Thanks for looking people

Looks absolutely fantastic that mate.

Where did you manage to track down the diffuser?

Thanks Bradders75.. I managed to track it down through a stroke of luck through a Mr Pawnsacrifice on here who kindly let me know he had one lying around that he was thinking of selling. Needless to say me being me and very uncontrollable when it comes to buying bits for the Zed, a deal was done and a week or so later here we are :D

I want to give a big  to Pawnsacrifice for all he has done over the past few weeks in getting the part to me etc.. It's very much appreciated..

Lads,
Are these diffusers no longer available to purchase from BMW? I have one on my coupe and I would agree that they are a great mod.

No, unfortunately thay have been discountinued. I tried just about every dealer in the UK including BMW UK and none can be sourced so they are like hens teeth.

Looks like it all worked out then :)
Great result

Did you go with 2 wine bottles and parcel tape tachnique?

Hi CJ..

Yes all worked out in the end. Thanks for your input on the mould forming technique , although I didnt use it in the end.

I toyed with making my own mould but PawnSacrifice had thrown in a carbon fibre mould that he had made which just needed a little tidying up here and there. What I did was trim this to suit and bond it to the diffuser with fibre glass and then painted the underside in matt black heat resistant paint.

Works well I think

Cheers

Excellent job. It finishes the back off perfectly. I am really surprised BMW discontinued this part......

I bet they never sold more than 100 in Europe and as a retrofit only it's an obvious part to discontinue.

Just need to make sure the rear doesn't get hit.

looks awesome.. i've had my CF diffuser in my garage since last year.. just need to find time (and the balls) to cut my bumper.

Although i have slowly been liking the idea of a quad setup... which would I thought would mean i would go with an M rear bumper.. however your's (and CJ's) modded rear diffuser looks damn nice.

Im thinking about strapping a cushion to the rear bumper.. a black one of course :D

I much prefer the look of this to the M bumper anyway. Plus it helps to stop the wannabe M remarks that I keep getting lol.. At least there is not M badges on my car.... well apart from the steering wheel.. Oh and the gear knob

Like it, looking good. 8) Whats next?

Erm... Well if the Mrs is asking this question then Im planning nothing because were wanting to build a house so its time to start saving..................... *cough cough* Quite fancy a vinyl wrap though.. Im thinking pearl white with carbon fibre roof, carbon mirrors and carbon bar on the front bumper between the fangs (where playalistic has his matt black). Everyone needs to tell me that this is a bad idea!!!

When you said you have used the mould I though you meant as a template - that cleaned up nicely! Good work putting it all together. Don't worry about the fibre glass on the back, it can't be seen. The CF should be fine - I used a heat resistant resin.

I was a bit gutted having cut it and then deciding I didn't want it, but really glad it's worked out for you - you have a very unique coupe there now

Thats originally what I was going to use it as but when I cleaned it up and tried it on the diffuser it just seemed to work so I thought why waste time with fiberglass when I can have carbon fibre.

Well heat resistant resin cobbled together with heat proof paint should be fine

Thanks for the complement on the car, I too think it looks chuffin splendid :D
