carbon black coupe

my carbon coupe was satrting to look a little swirly, especially in the sun, so over the last few days hav hand finnished it with 3m finess and megs gold class paste wax .hard work but looking reall lovely, the side skirts in front of the rear wheels were looking quite road rashed and was thinking i should think of getting these refreshed in the paint shop, however, this has bought this area and the backs of the mirrors back to colour and so no need to paint. when i got to the bonnet, I thought i needed a bit of mechanical help.I used to be involved in paint and bodywork and still have all the gear, my air polisher is very harsh and very messy, and the paint really didnt warrant a full machine polish. I thought I would try a little experiment , so i fitted a velcro backing pad to an air dual action sander, then with a 3m yellow waffle foam pad I polished the bonnet with finnesse. result was the best the car has ever looked, no swirls, no holograms just flat and shiny carbon black paint, finished again with megs gold class paste wax and i am well happy. foam didnt get hot at all, so no worry of burning lacquer or polishing through on edges. reccomend anyone who doesnt feel confident to power mop their pride and joy to try this, it is a really easy way to achieve stunning results quickly and without worry.
