Hi all,
I'm enjoying the M in every regard, the one thing I would like more of is noise  In order to preserve my hearing/relationship with my wife and neighbors I will go down the route of induction rather than exhaust. Providing I don't lose power and gain sound I will be happy (not worried about making a gain). The options seem to range from those that keep the standard MAF including K & N/AFE at the cheaper end, then the lovely looking Eventuri through to the various CSL type airbox which are more expensive, require an Alpha N/MAP sensor remap, make it harder to return the car back to standard but seem to sound the best.
I spent a late evening yesterday looking into CSL type carbon boxes which retain the standard MAF and don't require a remap. For the most part opinion on various forums say it can't be done due to airflow metering/restriction, or if it can it requires a cone filter on the end of the CSL box, which won't be as aesthetically pleasing? Does anyone have any experience of a carbon box running with the standard MAF and ecu?
I am in early stages of communication with a Belgian company called power-plus engineering who list a CSL style with MAF (for an E36), they have said this runs with the oem CSL air filter. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151059359036650.431124.122198171649&type=3
Could this give the cosmetic and sound advantages without the cost and Alpha N, providing they can make them for the S54?
Cheers, Dave
