Car is Haunted**What do you think, Help!

Hi Friends,

Well My Z4 has been running find with the exception of the following "haunting" issues, any ideas here is the details:

1-Get in car, turn key and Radio does not come on, shut off car and radio then works? Yes I have had my radio replaced 6 months ago that was a different problem , this has happened twice to date. :!: :!:

2- Now the other day, red tire pressure light comes on, take it to the BMW dealer for that, he said maybe a bad sensor, I did not tell him about the radio concern, thought it could not be connected to that. He reset the monitor and all is fine. :|

3-Now the other day, parked car and after locking the doors with the key/remote my parking lights came on all by themselves

So what do you think might be up, have 40K on my 2003 Z4, I called the dealer and they said I either have a loose connection or maybe my car needs to be programmed due to loss of communication???

What do you think, anybody have a clue?

I have had the same radio problem that you described intermittently since my car was new (2006). It does not happen often (maybe 2-3 time per year) and it always cures itself by turning the ignition off and back on again, so I have ignored it. Lately, I have a problem where the dash lights stay on (and stay on indefinitely) after you turn the engine off. Turning the ignition key to run and back to off solves the problem. It seems like something in the system gets out of whack and needs to be re-initialized (re-booted).

I also have an occasional problem where my right Xenon headlight does not light. Turning the lights on and off also always solves the problem (I have heard this problem is a bit more common).

I will be bringing the car in for a scheduled maintenance inspection soon and plan to bring all of these issues up then, but they happen so rarely I’m not sure that they will be able to find anything.

Let me know what you find out!! Must be something as you also described as a reboot problem, Please keep me and us posted! I to as soon as something stays on again as not directed will make a trip to the dealer, I just don't want one of these visits that are exploratory in nature that will cost a arm and leg! :x Your descriptions again are just as mine, weird stuff!

Your Xenon bulb is starting to fail, get it changed while still under warranty, $200 or so if you have to pay out of pocket. It will start to fail at random times, and places (dark, narrow road at night sucks), and throw a service light.
