Car backfire on demand

Saw this video by It's Joel on youtube to make the z backfire on demand. Just tap the throttle around 3-4k rev range and the car should backfire on demand. He's had a back box delete but mentions he was able to do this when the car was stock. Although, he has a 3.0. I tried on my stock 2.2 to no avail!

Has anyone manage to do this on a stock 2.2?

Mine does this, but mine seems a lot louder than Joel’s. Mine also has backbox delete.

My 2.0 also did this, that had an aftermarket sports exhaust fitted.
 
Mine burbles and pops when lifting off of the throttle, changing gear etc. I have a back box delete but the crackles and pops have always been there. The baffles and sound deadening in the oem box take it down to an ‘acceptable’ level for general sale. Mine will rumble / pop when blipping the pedal on over run no matter what the revs are, but they’re certainly much louder higher up the range as you say. The pops will always be louder once the pipe is hot, and particularly loud if the air temperature is cold.

My dads standard 23i e89 is unsurprisingly the same as mine was, it crackles away but you have to listen for it.
 
Mine has always done it, mostly higher up the Rev range for the crackles with burbling at lower revs. With the Eisenmann race it is much more apparent but quieter than backbox delete would be. Sounds good and a nice balance!
 
I've found that the best way to do it consistently is to rev it to 3-4rpm and very slowly let off the throttle.

On my stock setup I got a nice burble.

With my Supersprint setup, it's delicious :evil:
