Capt Tom

Just posted in the vaccine thread. Shame someone took it to him.

The new variant is so transmissible it was probably inevitable, he has had a tremendous year and shown what this country should be about, not the spoilt masses we seem to have these days

Mrs G and I were just discussing his passing and what he had achieved. I gather he had been abroad, perhaps not related.

Thanks for helping the rest of us through Captain Tom. Wish you could have won this battle, but that was not to be. RIP Sir.

he went to the Bahamas this year, it was on his bucket list if I remember correctly, may not have been related but 10 hours on a plane may not have helped. :(

Apparently he had pneumonia so they could not give him the vaccine until it cleared which it didn't. Such a shame. If it wasn't for the pneumonia he would have had the vaccine and possibly lived. RIP a true gentleman

Fall out Captain, time to serve a higher boss. RIP and thank you.

Someone put a crap reply on LinkedIn saying Greta Thunberg had achieve 10 times as much in an eighth of the time!
My reply was "Without men like Sir Tom, Thunberg would not be free to say a word. I wonder if she or her ilk will ever appreciate that?"

RIP Sir Tom :(

According to reports he had a negative test result after his trip but there were still people who slated him for going  some really ungrateful pricks out there

If I were 100 I'd think, well I've not got long regardless, and when I get back home I'll hardly be spreading it to many people anyway, so sod it, it's a freeby and I've earned it!
Allegedly Barbados or wherever he went had no real cases at the time anyway.
Plus, to be callous, he may well have died from the pneumonia not the covid. We'll never know, but it makes a better story.

All the time that we remember Tom and his generation with grateful thanks, the ungrateful pricks will never win!

At 100 years old, his time with us was always going to be precious and limited. Likely would never have had that life time opportunity again. Good on him for taking it.
