Can't Pull my knob off... Any Advice ?

I've pulled my gear knob off in most of my previous cars and replaced with one I purchased, but can't in my Z4. I'm no weakling. Can anyone help me?

Please don't tell me to pull at it hard, twist etc as I've done this already.

The current knob is decent, so don't really want to go down the destruction route. So just need to know how others have approached this hurdle. I'm not sure if it glued down or what?

I’ve never replaced mine if it’s glued couldn’t you heat it up with hairdryer and use a puller wrap cloth around it not to damage anything just a suggestion.

Tap down on the knob, get a helper in the passenger seat, both of you grip the knob and pull up.Job done

Think taking the roof off will be harder on my E86 than the bloody knob.

Ah well, if you have the wrong sort of car then we can't really help :poke:

Your going to need a new roof after that.

If you think you are frustrated with it now, wait until you punch yourself in the face when it finally comes off!

Is it the original knob you're trying to remove? If not maybe someone has bodged it previously. Otherwise just pull harder - but don't put your face over it and watch out for the rear view mirror when it releases!

I've swapped 4 over on various BMWs now, and some knobs put up more of a fight than others!

It can help if you can wiggle it from side to side slightly while you yank it, so to speak.

I found it easier to sit in passenger side and put it in 2nd gear, double arm pull and it took a few 'heaves' to encourage it - but it doesn't feel like its going to go and then pop... done. GL.
