can't open storage hatch

Hmmm first z problem after 27 months and it's not a big one.

I can't open the hatch that's on the rear panel behind the seats in the middle. It's like a little cubby hole with a lifting handle, the handle lift but the hatch doesn't open. Two problems with this are it rattles and SWMBOs pashmina is in there.

anyone had similar problems and a solution before I let the dealer mess up my car!

It will lock with your central locking so could be that's a bit sticky. There should be a release cord in the boot.

Thanks. I've had a look in the boot and can access the cubby hole through a hatch. But there's no release cord or lever to open it from there.

According to the manual:
'The storage compartment can be removed completely to be able to use other inserts, for example.
In the cargo area: Press the handle up and fold the storage compartment completely down."
I've just been and had a look at ours and finished up with the cubby contents all over the boot!
However, it sounds like the handle mechanism on the cockpit side of yours has broken.
If you can get the guts out from the boot (sorry cargo area :) ) I managed to slide a credit card up at 45 degrees into the latch and opened the front flap.
You should then be able to remove/repair/replace as required.

tried everything but can't get it open from either the cabin or the boot. dealer next I think
