Can you reseal the main halogen headlight units (e86 2008)

As per the title - I'm not talking about the rear seal! - my seal has clearly gone where the main glass lens meets the light housing body (kind of in line with the bonnet shut). I've tried to seal by hand but it hasn't really worked.
I know with some lights you can "bake" them in the oven on low heat and then you can prise apart the lens and back to allow you to reseal it with sealant/mastick.

Has anyone tried this? I don't want to spend £300 on a new unit if i can repair
And my rear seals are apparently perfect according to my local BMW specialist...

I would go with a heat gun over the oven. This was a common thing on facelift E46's of the same era where people pulled them apart to install angel eyes. That said you could just run a bead of silicone around the join to fill any gaps without the need to baking or getting them hot.

Treat it as a good opportunity to install LED Angels... So much better than the crappy single one in the facelift xenons

i went to walmart and bought a cheap flat head screw driver (one that you would never use again) *after its apart, i used the screw driver as a scraper and a heat gun to heat up the adhesive. run it along the channel/grooves. use a rag to remove the glob of adhesive on the screw driver *it will be hot!!!
