Can you hear the exhaust flap opening and closing?

Mine does that when I start it from cold, then goes away seconds later, I’ve always assumed it was the exhaust flap ?
 
Thanks. Not the same as mine - the noise happens all the time during driving but I can't work out what triggers it. Could be the auto box shifting but even that doesn't seem quite in sync with the noise
 
Every now and then when the roof is down or the window open I can hear a metallic click/ting as well. Usually at low revs and low speed when the car changes gear in auto mode.
Mine's an 8 speed auto so I just figured it was something to do with the DCT. :)
