Can I join in too?

I know I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic but at least I'm a member of the colonies :P
I picked a 2008 Z4 M coupe last week, I've been saving my pennies for years to get one and finally made the jump before the prices get crazy.
In NA at least all the indications show that these cars are at the base of the bell curve and will only become more sought after.
The PO spent a lot on performance upgrades some of which I'll keep for sure, others I may revert to original, I'm not a boy racer anymore.
Oh, and the headlight tinting has already been removed.
Thanks,
Chris

very welcome bud! and the coupe looks stunning: as does the datsun in the background!!

Indeed welcome. We’d be interested on what performance mods have been made, as generally there’s not much more you can squeeze out of an “M”.

Also, that must be a unique exhaust pipe arrangement on your other Z. :?

Welcome aboard.
Car looks great considering the non-folding expanse of metal on the top. :poke: :D
Hope it gives you lots of fun.

Thanks, here is a partial list, I haven't found all of them yet but I'm sure I'll find more. No engine mods that I know of yet but it shouldn't be too hard to tweak it up to the 343 hp the the e46 M3 put out. Not that it needs anymore power
-Genuine style 359 competition 19"wheels from a E92 M3.
-Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires.
-H&R Street Performance coilovers.
- Powerflex trailing arm bushings.
-Megan Racing catless headers.
-Rouge Engineering Diablo Mufflers.
The 1972 Datsun 240Z in background is a bit of a sleeper, I swapped a S54 engine from a 2001 E46 M3 int the engine bay and thus the muffler you noticed. In fact it's that S54 that led me to the Z4Mcoupe.
I had to get a bit creative with the airbox because shock tower was in the way.

Wow, A Datsun Z car with a S54 engine. That is something to behold (and must be completely mental)

Hope the gearbox can handle it, or it'll be raining Datsun cogs.

Sorry, sorry, old joke and possibly one that'll get lost in translation anyway.

The transmission is the 420G 6spd unit from the the M3 and yes, because the car is only weighs 2600 lbs it's a real kick in the pants when you floor it, kind of scary really but that's not a bad thing.

With that level of engineering skills you will most capable of tackling any issues that arise …welcome

welcome to forum. Nice set of cars you have there. Must commend you on the work on your Datsun. Not many people out in today's world that would attempt that. I always wanted when I was younger to be able to wrench on a car like that. But my ability was not there and any project I attempt usually takes me 6 times as long as 1 don't know what am doing or 2 have to keep going to the store to buy a tool I need. Good luck with both cars and enjoy them life is short.

As a matter of interest, Where do you put the coolant in the Z.
A pressurized coolant can up where the battery use to be. The only real mod I had to make on the engine was trimming an inch off the side of the oil pan, lost 7 ozs of oil capacity. I probably could have got away without doing it but it gave me a little more wiggle room for the final position.

Hi and welcome to the forum from a fellow M Coupe owner.

Some impressive work getting that S54 into the Datsun - that must be a real wild ride!

Love your Datsun, I looked at buying a 240Z a few years back, but in the end I couldn't find one I wanted to buy.
I used to see a few conversion done with the S54, but not for a few years. I guess the increase in value of an M3 makes it less viable than before.

I think that's one of the reasons I was drawn to the Z4 coupe, to me it's always been a bit like an updated Datsun 240z/Triumph GT6. two seats, coupe shape, straight six and back to basics handling. Even the dials are similar in the way they look.

I still have a look on the uk zclub website now and again, maybe one day. :)
