Can I hang out here and avoid political ideological and fanatic discussion?

A stubby was a small bottle of beer when I was in NZ, and yes a stubby aerial was the first change I did to my Z

Welcome aboard. Take the time to scroll through the forums and you will see there are lots of ideas for modifications, updates etc, from angel eye globes to side indicator styles, tyres, wheels, you name it, and the already mentioned stubby v whippy. Lots of experienced owners who are happy to offer advice based upon their experiences. Two of the popular initial and easy mods are replace the run flats, if you have them, and get a stubby aerial.

Welcome

I have a friend in NZ you must know him he’s called Cliff ?

But then again he supports Leyton Orient so perhaps best avoided

Welcome fella, there’s a couple on this forum living in NZ, though probably both at opposite ends of your rock.

Keep well

Hi and welcome to the forum, great colour, looks lovely
First mods for me were stubby, LED angel eyes and LCI side indicators, it already came without the run flats.
Post another photo when you have had it detailed, we do like to see a shiny car.

The car came with the stubby aerial. I like the RC car look 👍. It also has after market Bluetooth set up which works by selecting CD and then track 2. Works really well for phone calls and music.

Went for my first day-time ride this morning and the bloody thing wouldn’t start. I thought I’d been sold a lemon but a quick call to the dealer revealed that you need to hold the starter button down a little longer than I’m used to with my X5!!

Any do’s or dont’s that I should be aware of? Like leaving it idling too long or doing short journeys etc?

I’m on the lookout for some parts as the idrive controller and heated seat button are warn out, and I’ve got the later model side indicators on my list. Looks like you need to break a small tab off them and use double sided tape, is that correct?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum, nice looking Zed.
There are a few things you can do to improve it, like getting a real aerial

yes, that's all you need to do. You can get replacement switch covers for the heated seats too (search for them on here).
Iirc they come with double sided tape

Is it a straight forward job? Same wiring? How do you remove the old ones?

Hopefully someone has done a YouTube video.

Iirc you lever the spring clips holding the existing indicators in place with a long screwdriver from under the bonnet, wiring is the same.

Just watched a YouTube vid and it looks like a job even I couldn’t mess up. Will add a pair to my growing parts order.
