Hi all,

I recently bought a set of front E46 Callipers from Quarry Motors, today i started cleaning them up with the intension of paining them, however i noticed that one of the pistons was out slightly but i can't seem to get it to move back in even under quite a lot of pressure.

Has anyone rebuilt any of these calipers before and fancy rebuilding mine for me? Ill provide beer tokens etc for your trouble.

Thanks

Ash

Try connecting it to your car's hydraulics i.e. replace the relevant caliper with the stuck one & bleed the brakes, preferably with a Gunson EezeeBleed. Now start stomping on the pedal. That should get it moving. If it still won't shift get your money back.

New seals & pistons available from BrakePartsSuperstore

Alternatively send them to Brake Caliper Specialists or Bigg Red for refurbishment.

If all this is too much, just take them to EuroCarParts & p/x them against a new pair for £160 ish.

Doubt you'll get it moving without a caliper vice but you could try using a foot/hand bike pump. Basically cover up/block the hole where the brake line goes with your thumb, undo the bleed nipple a little And then pump some air in using the foot/hand bike pump. The piston will start moving once there's enough pressure built up in there.

Quick update guys, sent off to big red calipers a few weeks ago and they did an amazing job. Fitted them at the weekend and they are all working as thery should :)
