Can anybody with a 2.5si do me a favour?

Hi guys,

Just wondered if anybody with a 2.5si fancied doing me a favour? I need the software number from the ECU, this is located on a sticker on the ECU (there are 2 stickers on the ECU, one with "Siemens" and some other details on there, it is the numbers from the other sticker I require - it will be the chassis number followed by three other sets of numbers). The ECU itself is located in a box on the right hand side of the engine bay under a black cover held down by 4 torx screws, this box is full of wires and there's another smaller black cover, this just unclips and the ECU slides out enough to take a photo/read the stickers on there; Nothing needs to be unplugged etc.

Some beer money via paypal for anybody that can help out :).

Or if anybody knows the engine software code for the 2.5si that would be easier? lol.

*Edit - Forgot to mention what this was for  *
It's for tuning purposes, building a higher performance map for the 2.5i Z4. I don't need vin/chassis numbers, just the software code. Got a tuner looking into this for me but struggling to identify the 'base' 2.5si map from the BMW update disc.

Cheers guys.

I have a 2.5si, if I get chance I will have a look but TBH I would expect the map to be written for your engine in conjunction with a rolling road rather than using the map for a 2.5si. There has to be more difference than just the map between the 2.5i and 2.5si otherwise buyers would have bought the 2.5i and just had it mapped and save a few quid.

I would be very greatful mate. The tuner will write a custom map, but would like to compare the 'base' maps first to see where the power difference comes from. It's possible thats its not just a simple remap but something deeper in the architecture of the ECU, hence why standard remaps don't up the power to Si levels.

I initially though that it must be the intake manifold and mapping - as is the case on the US N52 engined 3.0i (215ish bhp - we didn't get this in the UK) and 3.0si (260bhp). However when actually looking under the bonnet the three stage manifold is already in place on the UK 2.5i, and all engine (right down to camshafts etc), exhaust, ecu etc. part numbers are identical on RealOEM for the "i" and "Si", with the only difference being the brakes.
