can a tablet be installed into dashboard?

Having enjoyed a boozy bbq this afternoon at home  , I have thought the dash fascia on the Z4 is an ideal location to incorporate an Android/Ipad tablet. The central vents would have to go as well as the head unit however in its place I would get a combined mp3/satnav/internet touchscreen in its place. Anyone actually done this already?

Someone on here has done this Im sure - I remember pics of him cutting into his facia  It all worked out in the end (can't find the thread)

From memory that was with an iPad, but any tablet will work. Marking it look good on the other hand.

I'd have gone down this route if I didn't have the nav screen to chop up, one idea maybe to get a spare dash trim , integrate a the tablet trim with the dash piece an get it refinished as one

I'd have gone double DIN if a facia adapter was available with side vents.

I definitely would have done the same. Found this as a DIY attempt and whilst the execution is decent and does the job, its not quote right IMO

Still a good effort though.

Im wondering whether some proper vents could be incorporated from another car into a fascia. something like a thin vertical vent. Say something like this rotated 90 degrees:
