I went through the usual problem of a broken roof motor which I replaced a while back. Did the job myself and everything worked (well almost).
I have the following two issues which I haven't bothered about because I did not feel like taking off the roof again but now its time to sell the car and I must fix it before it goes:
- The roof goes down fully but does not lock into place. I need to manually push it down a few millimeters to lock into the clip. There is no resistance so its not the folding of the material. I suspect that I did not put quite enough oil into the roof motor when I replaced it so there is not enough pressure in the pipes to generate enough force to push it into the latch.
- When I open the roof the motor just makes a spinning sound for 3, maybe 4 seconds before it starts moving. Then it moves perfectly fine and goes down quickly. Again I suspect there is not enough oil in the pipes so it takes a few seconds for the pressure to build up.
As mentioned above, I did replace the roof motor myself. Maybe I simply didn't put in enough oil. Can anyone confirm if this would be causing these issues. If not, what else could be the problem?
I will try and fix this tomorrow. Am I correct in assuming that I don't need to take the whole roof off to fill up the oil. Unlocking and lifting it on the roof motor side should give me enough space to open the roof motor casing and fill it up slightly.
