Hi, I have just bought the cabrioshield soft top cover for my Z4. Really impressed with the quality and thickness of it.

I am just wondering about the bits that go into the door shuts, the front ones go in fine but the rears seem to be a pain to try and shut the door and keep it in at the same time.

Do you other owners bother with those door shut ones or is it safe without them?

Yeah. It's a bit tricky but I take the time as it'll probably keep it a little more stationary in the wind and reduce any rubbing of the paint (I wipe the relevant areas with QD before putting it on).

I put it in position and press my hand just rear of the door whilst closing the door with my other hand. Agree that it's difficult as the door is only open a few cm at this stage.
 
Agree, it is tricky but they do slide in (Ooh-er) just have to position them in place and close the door firmly, it took me a while and like you I was thinking its probably easier to leave them out!
 
Agree with the above. Takes practice but worth it, especially considering The Great Gusts of 2013! :D

When it's new the flaps sit flush against the cover (in the wrong direction, i.e. towards the rear of the car), but after a while they start to stick out a bit more, which makes shutting them in the door easier.
 
I've got a cabrio shield, but I have to admit apart from slotting the rear beaded edge into the boot void before closing the boot the rest of the cover just sits on the car with the front end under the wipers. It seems to fit reasonably snug. Mine came from their eBay page but didn't have any instructions in the box re fitting.

Anyone got a picture of it fitted the correct way?

I too have a habit of wiping the area where the magnetized edge sits on the bodywork to avoid swirles!
 
Just bought and would love a demo or proper instructions before I try the fit on sunday

Doh, I just found the beading on the underside that slots into the front/rear of the doors - arse, how did I miss that, what a numpty, seems miles more secure now :oops:
 
In your first picture the whole cover looks to be very loose and wrinkled, does it fit more snug than that I hope it does as I want to order one of these but I don't like how loose it looks : )

It's not a pair of Speedos. :D

I know what you mean though - it is not a completely snug fit and the fabric does hold its wrinkles (especially when new). Mine is getting better - I think it softens up a bit with use and also benefits from being folded neatly when you take it off.

Hehehe I know it's not a pair of Speedos it was a genuine question and what you say about it being new makes sense, I am still going to order one as from what I have read they are good quality aren't they.

So do you guys use this if the car is being stored outside for a while? Or are you out there night and day whipping this thing on and off?

Looks good and obviously worth it for the protection though...
 
It's either the Cabrioshield or my full cover. But I only put the full one on after a wash to prevent swirls...

So the roof's only been rained on whilst driving, not whilst on the drive - for about the past 6-8 weeks.

Like Johnny I dry the roof with a big mf towel if needed before putting it on.
