so im buying some uprated RE engine and transmission mounts, so i check the us website and CA are selling the product as a significantly higher price, how the hell do these guys get away with charging these insane prices, i can literally import this in for cheaper but the lead time is longer..... CA you SUCK!!!!!

anybody else been stung by the CA rip off way of doing business?? seems they add a nice ///M tax to 99% of all the products they sell, shame really as they'll loos out when i import these in myself.

Most dollar retail prices are just straight converted to pounds, to allow for import taxes and freight. Well, this is the case in the Audio Visual market anyway.

However, if they are then adding a significant wedge on top of that (esp. as they should be buying from the US at a TRADE price too!), then yes, it's amazing they are getting away with it.

+1 their prices are rubbish even like for like with ACS. For laugh guys this is utter crap they wrote when I asked for quotes on BBK's
email 1:
Dear Sir
We have had some email issues lately, could I just ask if you received the quote for below enquiry ?
If not, would you still like one from us ?
Apologies for any inconvenience.
Please let us know if we can help further.
:? :? :?
email 2:
I am sorry for the delay, not sure what happened .
We do not really like to sell AP and Alcon, because Stoptech and Brembo are MUCH better... most of the time we prefer Stoptech over Brembo because :
1. With Brembo you pay a lot for the name, but performance is SAME as Stoptech
2. Stoptch has better front – rear balance and better pedal modulation
3. Stoptech has better / faster after- sales service and communication
4. We can also offer you 10% discount on Stoptech if you buy both kits front and rear
:o :o :o
I won't even bother posting the prices they quoted  :headbang:

I find their comments very unproffessional.

Sof ar I asked Simpson who were clear, precise, not trying to sell and pro. Also delt with ACS who are a real pleasure and informative and work at giving you a good deal.

The thing is most tuiners/ preparators have crap websites. Our first port of callis goole or bing etc. I'm not saying AC Auto is a good website, but it has loads on, which the other guys could do with.

nuff said.

Whilst I'm never one to support CA, you do have to remember that they should be providing an aftersales service that you'd probably not get if you bought direct from the US. Nor does the US outfit have to worry about returns under the SOG act.

I worked it out on some computer gear a while ago, and it was only worth it when it was over $1.80 to £1.00.

Also, one of my mates tried to buy directly from the US and was told they couldn't as the UK rights were held by CA and that CA could sue if they found out about grey imports. So my mate had to go to CA who told him it would be 2-4 weeks, but he cancelled the order after 9 weeks and 3 incorrect batches of parts. The costs of all these returns were covered by CA, who I suppose attempted to recover them from the supplier in the US as the correct part was ordered, but the wrong part kept getting sent.

More like:
"We do not really like to sell AP and Alcon, because the margins we make are MUCH better with Stoptech and Brembo."

Very unprofessional, making wild claims (just like a lot of their American suppliers) and do very little to back it up. Anyone in the know will tell you AP are awesome, 99% of CSLs on-track I've seen have AP... in fact, the only STOPTECH's I've seen were on an E60 M5... they looks HUGE and looked like they weighed the same! :headbang:

A supplier should make a margin, all suppliers NEED to make a margin, so if you order on-line direct yourself you need to remember you're on your own. If you're happy with that then make the saving... otherwise find a good supplier/distributor and pay the "reasonable" premium

nothing better than a good local trusted independent specialist supplier who knows you'll keep comiong back to him. Had one on the UK in Essex. Have one now in France. I've 4.5k of work getting done that would have cost 7k.

The downside is they take AGES but they work hard at getting you the best price. If you have a bug, they'll sort it FOC.

Biscuits, Stoptechs really are very good though and the Yanks can't stop raving about them. I'd have a set definitely.

:scratchhead:

North American BMW and Z4 drivers are very happy with them. Is that better? English is not my first language.

Your English is perfect, I'm just very cynical of the Americal forums members who seem to "rave" about everything...

Yeah, about that. I ordered the right item, CA shipped the wrong one, then required me to pay for shipping of the wrong item before he would send the new item.

I have Stoptech BBK (not bought from CA), I am extremely happy with them, they are not at all heavy and work brilliantly on road and track... They are slightly more expensive than AP but I would definately buy Stoptech again, they are very good quality and brake balance and pedal modulation/feel is fantastically impressive. I believe the callipers are slightly stiffer than AP's and the discs to me appear to be of better quality - They are certainly lasting well... I also preferred a 2pc disc for the rear.

I bought mine last year from Julian at Balance Motorsport in West Sussex, I got a great price from him (far better than CA) and more importantly excellent service. I still continue to get excellent service from him (as it should be) - Awesome...

I will never use CA ever again... Or recommend them! Some of you I see are finding out some of the reasons for yourselves :(
