Bye Bye Zed

Well the time has come and I'm sorry to say I've had to lose my much loved flimper specced zed.

Two reasons;
The first being that I was still having issues with water ingress. I'd spent £400 at the garage and had a new screen fitted as well. We'd had the car literally in pieces and sealed 2 areas where water was getting in through the bulkhead. We'd tested everything and everywhere yet still serious amounts of water were getting into the cabin. :headbang:
The car was a daily drive and as much as I loved it, leaks are my second worst nightmare after intermittent electrical faults.

The quad exhaust used to sing and I just loved it on the overrun........

The second reason is my place of work has been moved another 20 miles further away and so the DD option has started to look increasingly expensive in a 2 car house. I've done some research and my wife has the same car I've gone for. She's had it 5 years and loves it. The running costs are reasonable and I have calculated that we'll save at least £2,000 per year.
That my forum colleagues is 2 weeks in the sun which I've putting in a car which was just sitting in traffic on a daily commute.

So without further ado here it is.

Yes ladies and gents it is a Mazda 2 Sport!!! It has a whole 103bhp and has been returning 48mpg with me driving like a loon. Insurance refund of £145, tax refund of £230.
It's an 11 plate and I got a pretty good deal, putting £500 back in my pocket. Oh yeah I got mats before some eagle eyed person says the floor looks dirty!
It has all the bells and whistles (better stereo than my zed) and reminds me of my early forays into FWD hot hatches.
I'm gonna get through the winter then I might start modding for fun. :)
I won't do a Marmite but some stripes and things, paint the calipers etc and chav it up a bit. :D
After all, if you cant go fast then go funky!! :driving:

I've had a lot of help from the forum and I shall carry on lurking as when I win the lottery I'll be back. Although I saw a 2 gorgeous cars today, a brand new 350SL and a brand new 6 series in the most beautiful BMW colour there is, which is of course Montego Blue - And you all know it.........

Sorry to see a 'man down' but it happens, and you will recover, back in the day when mortgage doubled to 15% (yes folks it can happen) I had the choice of changing my much loved Alfa GTV6 to a Fiat Uno or hand my house keys back, so the Fiat it was! Chin up because the Maz' like many small modern cars will exceed expectations, but keep the dream

Sorry to see u leaving the zed world.

Mazda 2 is a cracking little car.

My friend works for Mazda, if you ever need anything let me know and I will ask the the question.

Greg is your Zed for sale at Dave Fox at Stone as I was thinking of taking a look when passing by as it looks a nice example. If so I'm glad you mentioned the problem with it.

Good luck with the Mazda.

Tim.

That's the one Tim.

TBH if you "spotted" the problem and got them to spend the cash getting it fixed (with a promise that you could take it back FOC if required) then it's a fantastic car.

The centre console trim was damaged by a previous owner and the driver's vanity mirror needs replacing (not vain so never bothered).

As I said the leak was only half the story.

If you want to have look then go see it. You know what to look for now whereas any other zed you'd be going in blind.

Anything else just ask.

What have you chopped for Greg?

Go see my other thread called "bye bye zed".

It's not exciting but with the daily mileage I'm doing and the fact that I work for the Co-op sense has had to win out for now.

I am sorry you had problems and your not in a zed anymore Greg. Please hang around hear me old mate

I think the Mazda 2 and the fiesta are one in the same car??? If I am correct it will handle brilliantly and 103 ponies will be enough.

Thanks Greg, I was looking at Coupes on e-bay on Friday and spotted yours as newly listed and I just got me thinking as maybe a replacement for my Z3 as the boot is much larger. I'm pretty much set on a new Swift Sport but the monies similar for a Z4 Coupe just not sure I want to go second hand with a higher mileage as my Z3 only has 25K lol. There is also another Coupe at Dave Fox but the mileage is a bit high over 90K and it has a wood dash

Tim.

I remember those days  We had 3 children and were permanently skint - on the good side though we had just bought a 3 bed link detached house in Somerset for £14k :D

Our car at that time was a splendifferunioushittychevette3doorrustbucket
