Buying the E89

Coming from a 2004 E85 Z4 2.5i, I am looking to get another Z4. I am very keen on a 2009/10 E89 Z4 sdrive 23i. Looking for a 2009/10 car with under 40k miles, preferably manual. I haven't found a specific car yet but also just started my search.

Is there anything specific to look out for with the early E89s? Coming from an E85 with failed roof motor, airbag light issues and other problems I am naturally weary of the Zs :D. Also, what's a realistic going price for such a car - I have seen anything from £11k to £16k...

Roof and wheels.....

Check the roof goes up and down with no issues - check location of the pump that it is all okay etc.

Wheels ? 296 are bad for eating the rears and lose the runflats and get a pump and sealer. They say that junks the tyre but doing a few miles in a run flat knackers the tyre enough that you would need a new one.

Visit the dealer and see if the car has had all the recall and advisorys have been done. Still its a good car and a lot of fun.

Agreed 19ins wheels can be quite an issue although fingers crossed I have been ok so far.

Roof , first car no issues over the 2 years I owned it but it did creak a bit , my current car no creaks but suffered sensor failure at 8 months , luckily the roof was in the up position
