Buying new wheels at the best prices.

Does anyone know of any good UK suppliers of new, or as new condition BMW wheels?

I'm after some Ellipsoids, tried a few sites supplying BMW parts but at much reduced prices, but no Ellipsoids or 108's. Wheel be ringing M-style at lunch for a quote too, but not holding my breath.

Want to get new tyres, but if I can get some 107's for the right price (budget is about £600-£700 for very good ones/new ones without tyres) then I will. Just don't want to put almost £700 worth of new tyres on the 108's if I can help it.

Thanks

Dave

I think I paid about £900 from the dealers, and by the time the VAT was taken off ...

Mmmm, lots of nice 108's on there, just my partner would give me some stick for buying wheels that look identical except up-close (women don't really notice the details sometimes :) )

I'm quite surprised 107's are turning out to be rare, and the 108's fairly common. I've seen loads of sets of nice 108's now, but not ONE set of 107's :(

Budget is ideally around £700 tops... would love to go to the dealer, but they would surely bend me over and do their worst I think :o

Will ring around this lunch, thanks for the help so far :D

£875 for a set of Ellipsoids from M Style.
£1125 with tyres (just enquired about those)
£1255 with FK452's...

A bit more than I'd have liked to be honest.

So three choices.

FK452's on my current 108's for £400

PS2 ZP's on my current less than fantastic but still go round 108's for £700...

Or new 107's and FK452's for £1255, and then sell the old 108's reconditioned for about £500 with a bit of meat on the tyres... (total cost of £755 for new wheels + tyres in the end)

Hrmmmmmm... just not sure if it's worth the premium for BRAND new wheels... I rekon I could find a set for £450 down the line... just I NEED new tyres soon, and my 108's are making me not like the car as much as I should be I don't think :)

My preferred choice, I had the 107s on mine. Did you also get a price for the 202s as per what GP20 said on your other thread?

pvr, :D :D I loved those wheels, I really did. Ah, I still remember the deal I turned down on a silver ///M :sweetheart: what an idiot :headbang:

Mr Whippy, what about a swap for these ones?

I had a good look at lots of pictures, and in the end I decided I didn't actually like them as much as the originals if I have to be honest.

Still deliberating what to do. I've just looked at more pictures of Z4's and decided silver and 108's look fantastic, but so do silver and 107's

I've budgeted up to £700 ish for tyres, so if I sell the old 108's with a refurb for £550, I will pretty much break even with new tyres and brand spanking new 107's around budget... and I had also thought FK452's were probably the sensible choice anyway (I prefer cheaper tyres more often and protected against punctures more, than super expensive longer life tyres that are a liability if you puncture/damage them)

Might just order them tomorrow then I can fit them on Saturday and start to pick apart these 108's and get the air-fed mask donned and a polishing kit ordered :D

My before and after with a change similar to you're proposing:

Gotta say that having started with the 107's and switched to 108's and customised them No way would I go back. I'm afraid I see them as a bit dated and not showing the roadster to it's best. However the beauty of wheels is we all like different and long may that variety last.

cj10jeeper, something has been bugging me about your wheels since you had them refurbed. Look above the rear wheel in the first pics, then do the same in the second pic - the 108s make the rear arch seem really deep and heavy if that makes any sense. Maybe the spokes appear too thin in the darker colour.

Ah OK, I think I like the 202s as a subtle update on the originals. When I looked for my Z4, and this is before the facelift or anything, I was desperate to get 107s, wouldn't consider anything else :)

Arghhhh, stop iitttt :P

Everything just looks so good!

Now I'm sat here thinking I'm best just making what I have good again in my own time and saving a packet and doing customisation like you have done so well CJ :)

I think Ellipsoids are still on the cards, but I can always source some 2nd hand later for not much. Probably better I spend an extra £500 on say a tyre machine with my brother then I can do what I will with tyres/wheels (can't do these big 18's on our old machine)

So PS2 ZP's for the weekend it is :driving: (and some tins of laquer, silver and a polishing kit)

Mike - I think I can explain the visual illusion (given there is no change other than finish to the star's and colour) Most of the photos I've posted have been taken with the sun shining into them, usually late PM. This is therefore when the sun is almost horizontal and illuminating the arches which is usually a dark area on a photo. Look at the shadows on the before and after photos.
