Buying new rims, current are damaged. E85 2.0i 2008

Hi all, after hitting a pothole, there has been damage to one of my rims (which were aftermarket upon purchase of vehicle, wider rear wheels ET40 18x9.5). I don't have much to put into the car right now and I need to get it back on the road so I've been looking on ebay.

Can anybody let me know how far I can deviate from the current specification, perhaps having 4 identical wheels instead, assuming I was to get wheel realignment and whatever else needs attention after putting on the new wheels.

If youre wanting to get back on the road as cheaply as possible id look for a set of 4 17" wheels with tyres. 17s aren't that desirable, could probably get a full set for £200 or so.

Then hopefully can get the wheel repaired for £60, put the 18s back on and sell the 17s again.

If you wanted to be really really cheap, find a single 18" wheel, and put your existing tyre on it. It'll get you around while your wheel is repaired, but I wouldn't do it long term.
 
There's another member in Guildford who was selling wheels a few months back.

A few things for sale. I'm NOT likely to post unless you are a long term poster and are willing to pay postage on top, but even then I really want hassle free - come to Guildford or meet me at some sort of a car meet not a million miles away! I may be able to deliver between Guildford and East London, or maybe in or near Poole, Bournemouth and Brighton (all places i may visit in Sept / Oct 2025) or between Guildford and those places.

All items purchased for an E86 and presumed fine for E85. Other compatibility... please do your own research!

Hi James,
18x9.5 et40 are not normal on a Z4. Typically they came on 17x8 et46 or 47, or 18x8 et47 (front) and 18x8.5 et50 (rear). If you like the stance of the bigger wheels, you could go back to standard and add spacers.

I have a good set of style 200 (17x8 et46) on good tyres in gloss black, which I’d let go for £300 if interested. I’m near Farnham.

Taking on board your situation if your car has standard brakes you could even fit 16s. And to hopefully widen your options E46 3 Series wheels have the same sizes and offsets as E85s. E9* 3 Series wheels would also fit, although as they typically are ET34 they'll sit a bit further out in the arches.

Hi James

I'm in Guildford and current have two sets of wheels I might be willing to sell - MV2s an 19" Veemans.
