Buying a Z4 E85

Hi All,

I am about to buy a Z4. Don't have tons of money and need some advice about what to look for in early years 2003-2005. Probably go for the 2.5. In Australia we only have 2.5 or 3.0.
Any advice very welcome.

Cheers
John

If the purchase price is not significantly higher it may be worth considering the 3.0; in the uk they got xenon headlights and a six speed gearbox which are nice to have :) mpg should be similar.

Welcome John.

Go for a 3.0 you won't be disappointed.

Usual things to look out for when buying a 9-10 year old car.

My fist Z had broken rear springs (only found out at MOT time) and a dodgy roof motor although that didn't get any worse in the year I owned the car.

Just follow the guides and you can't go far wrong.

I thought they all had a 6 speed gearbox ? My 2.0i has ?

No my 2.2 had a 5 speed

Weird, as you would have thought the 2.0 was the entry level one !

What reg is yours? Is it 2006? Could have been spec'd as a 6 speed. Maybe :?

I'm puzzled

2.0 was only introduced in 2005 with the 6 speed gearbox and prior to this the 2.2 and 2.5 models had the manual 5 speed gearbox.

Pity I'm not buying the UK! Australia is terrible for buying foreign cars. I have to buy at the low end which is never a happy place to be. Only plus is that because these cars were twice the price new they tended to be better looked after.

Forgot to ask about whether automatic or manual. There are many more autos for sale in Oz than the manual. Anyone with autos please comment! :)
