buying a 2003-2008 Z4

Greetings to all. I'm a newbie seeking to purchase a Z4 3.0 from 2003 to 2008. I'm scared to death about the steering issues associate with the Z4. When did BMW correct the problem and what is a safe year to consider buying? I'm really frightened and confused by this problem but I love the vehicle and its awesome styling. Please advise

Thanks

If you are referring to the sticky steering issue - you kinda get used to it. Only affects in hot weather I find and even then its not overly bad. There are some fixes if you search the forum.

Best advice - get out there and test drive some to make your own mind up (pref on a hot day like today).

I have a 2004 and had the sticky steering issue. Dealer finally replaced column and no more problems what-so-ever. Also replaced the original RFT's with Michelin RFT's, again, no more problems. 2003 and 2004 years were the problems. Don't know if 2005 was affected. I'm sure others on the forum could confirm that.
....and welcome to the forum.
Where located in the states are you?

Was that replaced under warranty?

It was replaced after the warranty expired, but since I had a record of complaint during the warranty period, they did it for free. Also while in the shop for this replacement, they fixed an air conditioning seal leak for free. Could not say anything bad about the dealership.
