Ok - not happy! Got truly burned at the lights from a new 335i this afternoon, true I did forget to press the sport button and lifted when I thought he was going straight in to the kerb but after that he was off! I wouldn't have minded if it had been an M3!

The BM was all black even the badges etc were black, not sure if this was something a bit more special but hey ho......... :x

To be fair, they do remap to around 370bhp don't they? That's a good c.150bhp more than you!

Here's hoping it was a remap then, cause there's nothing more humiliating pulling up next to the car at the next roundabout!

Even if stock 300hp is nothing to laugh at. Even if he's a bit heavier than you... Anyway you shouldnt feel bad about it all that matters is how your car makes you feel. Who cares about anyone else right?

A 135i stock is about 4.8 secs to 60, IIRC. So unless you were in an M you had no chance. They're seriously quick cars. Remapped they're astonishing.

[edit] misread before.

A remapped 335i with turbos is much quicker than an M3 too. Someone at the meet on Saturday was telling me there's a performance package on them that lowers 0-60 to 4.1 seconds. Mental.

bmw.co.uk says that the auto 335i coupe does 0-62 in 5.4sec still not Z4 or E46 M levels but pretty damn quick. And easy M beating levels of power are just a remap away. Very quick cars they are but i still prefer my MC. :D

He probably meant this (it's on the bottom of page 2). It says it lowers the 0-62 time by 0.2 seconds. Doesnt say a price but i'd be willing to guess you can get far more power gains with an aftermarket tune. You'd probably lose your warranty though if they find out...

Nah, he was talking about a full aftermarket package. Twin turbo, exhaust, remap, everything.

There's a black one in Glasgow that a wee Chinese guy drives that's mapped with Schitzer exhaust etc. It's all black and very very fast. Perhaps it was that?

But it's a big bloated Coupe...

Would rather be slower in a decent lightweight NA sports car, than a bloated middle-manager express ;)

The 335i and 135i are already twin turbo'd. :)
Well, he mentioned something about them. Changing them in some way, or something. All I remember exactly was the 4.1s time.

5.4 secs to 60 isn't Z4 quick? Im pretty sure it is. Im sure thats quicker than a 3.0 SE.

As far as 335i being a bloated coupe and the Z4 being a lightweight sportscar, i think that's rather optimistic too. Them 335s are rapid and sound awesome, way better than a Z4.

Only things that put me off are the size, the number you see on the M25 - bit reppy - and not cheap. Performance is good and bound to be smooth.

335i is a serious car.We drove a few at the M club day. They're very fast, especially when you take off the DSC and DTC. Someone who knows how to drive it will surprise most people.

He was writing E46 and Z4 in the transitive - the following M applied to both E46 and Z4, as in "still not Z4M or E46 M levels, but pretty damn quick."

Over here, the claimed 0-60 is 5.3 but every magazine seems to test it in the 4.8 to 5.0 range, closer to the Z4M.

As said above 335 are quick cars so you were never going to win but at the end of the day its a saloon the Z4 is a great looking 2 seater i know what i would rather drive :D

135i and 335i have the same engine. can be remapped with warranty to 420-ish hp. stock engine reaches FULL TORQUE at 1400 rpm!!! what turbo lag?

our cars (non-M) aren't even in the same category as them in straight line speed. I'm surprised you even caught up by the next light. That's already quite a big accomplishment :P
