**Bumper Clearance Stock vs Aero Bumper***

HI,

Ok I know a few of you out there have the Aero Bumper, Can someone please tell me if the clearance is higher than stock bumper on my 03 Z4, I have the 18" wheels. :headbang:

Yes Sir, from the ground up to the bottom of the bumper. Can someone give me a measurement so I can compare, I am going to do the facelift to Aero, just hoping for more clearance, Last night, yes again, going slow from a gas station, hit the OEM again and this time it has cracked. :x

Again I have the 18" wheels in front, i.e run flat Brigestone Potenza's.

I don't have the measurements now.

I also have an 03 with the sport package (so I assume the sport suspension). Just comparing the my pictures of the original 03 bumper to the aerokit bumper, the height clearance difference does not seem significant. However, the original bumper's bottom lip slopes inward more from the front-most edge ("nose") of the bumper, whereas the middle part of aerokit bumper's bottom lip sits almost flush with the front-most edge of the aerokit bumper. So, if you're scraping on the original bumper, it will be likely that you will scrape the aero bumper as well mainly due to the smaller approach angle.
 
Would really like to just get a measurement from the ground up to Aero bottom bumper?? (Clearance) in inches :headbang:
Then I will go measure my stock bumper!!

Thanks for providing that measurement!! The mesurement on my 03 Zed Z4 with stock oem bumper with the sport suspension and 18" wheels is 5.25" :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Do you have the sports package,You will see on the center console left of the stick shift/or auto called sport button.
My car has that option, I think that is the sports/m suspension?

If so, your measurement would be correct at 6.25 inches on the Aero bumper?

Let me know if you have that button and that will confirm the 1" clearance on the

Yes, I have the sports button.
 
Someone on the old Z4UM did the measurements and compared the ground clearances between stock bumper and the aero bumper, and said there's absolutely no difference at all. He eve posted pictures of the comparison.
 
There really shouldn't be any difference in the clearance unless it slopes downwards (which I don't think it does). If it were lower or higher, then when you look at the side profile, the bottom of the bumper would be at a different height than the side skirts.

The aero kit sides and front should all be the same height as the stock pieces so that you can mix and match them without seeing any uneven lines.
 
I added the aero kit to my 2.5 and while the clearance didn't change I sure hit the bottom more often than with the OEM front. I believe it was the shape of the aero kit.

Oh well so much for getting more clearance, I do like the look of the Aero over the stock, At least I will have a new look and new bumper to scratch :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Hmm interesting thread, GP20 is right - it isn't any lower although it does stick out more towards the front, so it probably will scrape a bit more over ramps or humps.

Does look great though, looking forward to the pics :thumbsup:
